Judith Almasque's Bio

Judith is a self-taught artist newly emergent to the art scene.  She has received great acclaim for her realistic oil portraits that she has done through private commissions for the past 3 years.  She also does elaborate beautiful landscapes, figurative works and wildlife paintings.  She did not receive a formal artistic education since she studied electrical engineering at the university of Missouri Rolla and worked as an engineer for 10 years before returning to her lifelong passion of painting full time in 2005.

She was born in Havana, Cuba, where she was surrounded by the most beautiful beaches and tropical scenery.   She also lived in Spain and other eastern european countries before migrating to the US when she was 13 years old.    As a child  she was amazed at the intricate moorish architecture in Hungary and Spain which influenced her imagination. She  spent many hours painting colorful mosaics, tropical scenes and figurative drawings.  She resided in Asturias, Spain with her grandparents surrounded by the mountains.   She visited the museums in Madrid and greatly admired the spanish masters like Velazquez and El Greco and wanted to paint like them some day.

Judith lived and worked in Chicago.  She has great memories of that amazing city with a gorgeous skyline and full of energy.   She resided in New England  with its incredible fall colors that you can see reflected in her work   Now she has decided to live in the northwest where the most majestic mountains and national parks are found and you can look forward to seeing nature's beauty reflected in her work.
